January is Get Organized Month-- Home Organization Solutions for the New Year
It's that time of year again! You guessed it, time to celebrate Get Organized (GO) Month, which is the National Association of Professional Organizers’ (NAPO) annual campaign designed to increase awareness about the benefits of getting organized. The campaign will include information about home organization solutions, including closet systems. The 2014 Go Month will mark the 10th anniversary of the event with NAPO chapters across the country planning events to educate local communities about good organizing practices. Check it out at the Go Month Blog.
January is the perfect month to focus on organization. Most Americans enjoy celebrating the holidays with family and friends, but dread the disorganization we face once the celebration ends and we are left to straighten, clean and store items. An outline of the best strategies to battle clutter, which we have mentioned previously here on the WoodTrac blog, starts with an inventory of your storage needs. Secondly, organize everything into categories; and finally, select the home organization solutions that will best suit your home organization needs, as you go.
Storage Containers
When using storage containers in the attic, basement or large walk-in closets, large plastic bins with removable lids work best. Carefully consider appropriate content for each location, remembering that attics often experience temperature fluctuations during the year, and basements may be humid. A few storage containers to avoid include large, messy toy chests; storage tool chests that are too content-specific, and storage containers that are difficult to open and close.
Organizing in Bedrooms and Guestrooms
Most children’s or guest bedrooms have a reach-in or walk-in closet, just the right size for a WoodTrac reach-in closet to conquer the disorganization. Choose from the following features for the wall mounted or floor standing reach-in closets, available in white, cherry or espresso finishes:
· Constructed solid hanging rods set at full or half hanging height
· Four-sided drawer construction with full extension drawer slides
· Open shelves or shelves with doors including a solid back panel
· Tiltable shoe shelves
· Toe kicks for floor mounting included
· Optional wallboard available for a built-in look
Design with the WoodTrac Closet Configurator
Home organization solutions from WoodTrac also include walk in closet systems, easily designed by using the WoodTrac closet configurator accessible on the WoodTrac website. The closet configurator shows the different configurations that are available based on the size of your closet opening, and includes shelving, drawers, doors, rods and finish options.
